My guest in this episode is Simon Poile who I first met in 2018 on my annual sojourn to the Austin City Limits Music Festival.
Simon was born in Hounslow and grew up in Maidenhead but for almost all of the past 25 years he has lived in Seattle, with his wife Lex and their two children Ben & Ruby.
In amongst some great song choices (and accompanying film score choices ) we talked about a host of things including :
· Seeing Rick Wakeman live when he was 5 years old
· French Summer Holiday's in the 80's
· Discovering Computers & Coding as a 12-year-old
· Being a chorister in The Ambrosia Singers & appearing on TV & in a film
· Blagging his way to a job at Microsoft in 1992 (to avoid a long bus commute)
· Seeing a grumpy Robbie Williams and a charming Damon Alburn in small clubs in Seattle
· Turning down Amazon in 2008 and then getting a second bite of the cherry
· Moving his life and family 5000 miles, twice!
· Listening to every episode of Music Talks
· The joy of watching his son's musical talent grow.
