Music Talks

Episode 46 - Levi Petree - Anarchy in South Louisiana

Terry Smith Season 3 Episode 10

My guest in this episode is actor and musician Levi Petree, who I met through our mutual friend Jesse Jackson, the man behind the Set Lusting Bruce Podcast.

Born in 1982, Levi grew up in the Southern US near Lafayette in what he describes as the “Cajun Hub” Since 2008 he has lived in LA having moved there via Chicago (sorry Wilco fans I couldn’t resist!)

Levi is clearly proud and grateful for his Southern Heritage and the story about his Ronnie Milsap choice is just priceless. But he is also very much an Anglophile, particularly when it comes to music.

And so, in this episode there is another tweak to the Music Talks format.  In addition to his choices from the 80’s onwards I also ask Levi to choose his favourite UK songs of the 60’s and 70’s, He makes two great choices and introduces me to a great BBC podcast called Soul Music which is a treasure trove of great content. I would highly recommend it (after you have listened to this episode clearly 😊)

These are Levi’s choices in the order we discuss them:

80’s -     Ronnie Milsap                   - If You Don’t Want Me To

90’s -     The Wallflowers               - One Headlight

00’s -     Arctic Monkeys                 - Fluorescent Adolescent

10’s -     Part Time                           - Night Drive

20’s -     The Dustbowl Revival     - Just One Song

60’s -     The Kinks                           - Waterloo Sunset

70’s -     Sex Pistols                          - EMI

As always, we covered a lot of musical ground in this chat and this playlist has all of Levi’s choices (with one exception!) along with a song from each artist we mention. Just cut & paste into your browser.
